About the game
Northern Saga is an old-school real-time strategy RPG inspired by classics like Ogre Battle. Players command their clan across real-time battlefields, build specialized combat formations on a 3x3 grid and master autobattler combat where every positioning choice matters.
The Northern Territories are on the brink of collapse. Players assemble their forces, recruit, customize and evolve troops, and unite the clans across a story-rich campaign. As unrest ignites across the North, they guide Una through a dark mid-fantasy story of intrigue, treason and personal tragedy, brought to life with hand-crafted pixel-art cutscenes and dialogue.
Features
- Formation autobattler combat. Units are placed on a 3x3 tactical grid, where positioning unlocks unique abilities, bonuses and synergistic attacks. Combat is automatic, so preparation is key to winning.
- Three-branch unit progression. The clan is built from three archetypes, the sturdy Soldier, the deadly Archer and the versatile Pilgrim, with easy class changes for hybrid squads where every class has its use.
- Real-time strategy, pauseable tactics. Units move across the map in real time, and players can pause at any moment to reassess and issue new orders.
- Granular loadout optimization. Class archetypes, skills and gear abilities combine into devastating compositions, from an unbreakable shield wall to an aggressive backline-striking squad.
